Students Receive Study-Abroad Scholarships

A total of 13 Georgetown students who won Boren scholarships will go abroad this summer or during the 2008-2009 academic year to learn languages and study regions -- from Africa to the Middle East -- that are considered critical to United States interests. The students also will fulfill a government service requirement.

Five Georgetown undergraduate students recently were awarded David L. Boren Undergraduate Scholarships by the National Security Education Program (NSEP), while eight graduate students received NSEP Boren Graduate Fellowships. The countries and regions the students will study in include Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Middle East.
