Archived Music Notes Research Possibilities
September 8, 2008
When the Friday Music Series kicks off its fall semester performances on Sept. 19, listeners will hear the sounds of Tin Pan Alley, 19th-century Italy and even a little bit of “Sesame Street.” But they also will get a lesson in the research possibilities available through the library’s special collections.
The concert echoes what is within Georgetown’s special collection of music housed in Lauinger Memorial Library. University librarian Artemis Kirk and Anna Celenza, chair of the Department of Performing Arts, plan to open the event with commentary on the significance of the music and an explanation of its origins.
