Faculty and Staff Honored During Convocation

During one of Georgetown's long-held traditions, faculty gathered in Gaston Hall on March 3 for the Spring Faculty Convocation to honor those who academically serve the university and some of its generous benefactors.
Filing in during a processional led by university registrar John Q. Pierce, who held the Georgetown mace high, faculty members dressed in academic regalia solemnly entered the hall.
The ceremony, President John J. DeGioia acknowledged, may seem old-fashioned to some. But having attended more than 50 faculty convocations during his time at Georgetown, DeGioia said the tradition has a timeless quality.
