Why Y'all Are Here
Alternative Spring Break Trip to Biloxi, MS, 2008
In the spring of 2008, 20 Georgetown students and 4 academic deans traveled to Biloxi to work with the Diocesan Office of Long Term Relief, hoping to provide relief to families effected by Hurricane Katrina. This documentary examines the students' expectations for the experience, the actual relief work in which they were engaged, and their reflections on the learning that accompanied their service. The documentary also examines the experiences of the Mississippi residents with whom the Georgetown group worked.
The documentary was shot and edited by Bernie Cook and Natalie Murchison (C'10), with original music by Tad Howard.
