The PBPM program offers the following:
• Rigorous training in math and laboratory sciences
• Co-matriculation with undergraduate pre-medical students for all lectures
• The opportunity to be evaluated and receive a recommendation letter from the Pre-Med Recommendation Committee
• Volunteer and internship opportunities and information in the health field
• One-on-one advising, tutoring, and other academic support
• Eligibility to register with the Georgetown University Pre-Medical Society
• Workshops and seminars on how to apply to and interview for medical school
• Commercial MCAT preparation courses offered on campus and in the metropolitan area (cost not covered by tuition)
• Financial aid advice and eligibility for federal Stafford loan and selected private loans
The Georgetown PostBaccalaureate Pre-Medical Program is designed for qualified students who have finished their undergraduate degrees but lack all or most of the core Pre-Med science courses (Biology, General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, or Physics). PBPM students are also eligible to enroll in math or other electives. The program provides access to pre-medical advising and, upon completion of the certificate requirements, the opportunity to be evaluated and recommended by the Pre-Medical Review Committee.
PBPM students enroll in the same science and math courses offered to our undergraduate students, ensuring that all of our students receive the same high-quality education. PBPM students attend lecture with undergraduates. Our program offers lab sections particularly for PBPM students in order to foster a sense of community and opportunities for study together. Introductory Biology, General Chemistry, and Organic Chemistry courses are offered with Saturday laboratories for the convenience of students who are working during the week.
For further program details, please read through the rest of this web page as well as the PostBaccalaureate Pre-Medical Program handbook.
