Becoming a Baker

Applications are accepted from College sophomores early each spring semester. The Baker Scholars Program looks for students who have a demonstrated interest in business, a strong academic record, and a dedication to community service. Business coursework is not required, nor is formal business experience. Students must plan to be on campus for at least one semester during their junior year, meaning those who plan to spend the entirety of their junior year abroad are ineligible.

The selection process is highly competitive. Accepted applicants should expect several rounds of interviews, the first conducted by current Scholars, and the second conducted by the Board of Trustees and Assistant Dean Stefan Zimmers, the program’s administrator. The interview process is meant to reveal both the personal character and the professional potential of the applicants. Significant preparation time is encouraged.
