July 2015—I am a rising sophomore with interests in government and women’s and gender studies. I'm originally from Coopersburg, Pennsylvania, but I couldn't feel more at home on the Hilltop! On campus I am involved with Georgetown United Nations Association, Hoya Helpers, and H*yas for Choice—but in my free time I enjoy finding a quiet spot to read a good book.
I advise new students to experiment with the classes they take. Of course, you should work towards fulfilling the College's requirements and enroll in courses that are part of your intended major, but still leave some room to try something new.
For example, I took Introduction to Women’s and Gender Studies to complete the second half of my HALC requirement and I absolutely loved the course. Now I'm even thinking about double majoring in women’s and gender studies along with government. Sign up for one class that may not “fit in” with your overall plan, because you never know how much you may like it.
