Parent and Family Weekend

Each year, we invite the families of first-year, second-year, and transfer students to Georgetown to experience various aspects of university life. Over the weekend, parents and their students can attend information sessions, sporting events, receptions, faculty lectures, performances, and more.

The 2016 Parent & Family Weekend will be from Friday, October 14 through Sunday, October 16.

Additional information, including a detailed schedule, will be posted on the Parents and Families page.

Frequently asked questions

What information will I receive about Parent & Family Weekend prior to our visit to Georgetown University?

A save the date postcard will be sent to parents of first-year students, sophomores, and transfers in August. All other information will be provided online. Please visit the Parents and Families page for schedule updates.

Once you arrive on campus for the weekend, you will receive a packet of information at check in, which will include a detailed schedule, campus map, and informational flyers about campus activities taking place while you're here.

If you have any questions prior to your arrival, please call the office of orientation, transition and family engagement at (202) 687-4505 and ask to speak with the parents and family weekend coordinator.

Are family members and guests welcome at all events?

Yes! Family members and/or guests are welcome at all events. They must be included in your registration.

Is there a Parent & Family Weekend for junior and senior students?

The fall Parent & Family Weekend is specifically for first-year, sophomore, and transfer students and their families. Because so many of our juniors study abroad, there is not a dedicated parents weekend for juniors and their families.

The dates for the spring 2017 events will be announced by the Senior Class Committee during the fall of 2016.  For information about this past spring's events, please see the Senior Class Committee website.

For more information about Parent & Family Weekend, please call the office of orientation, transition, and family engagement at (202) 687-4505 and ask to speak with the parent and family weekend coordinator.
