College Professor Receives Dorothy Brown Award

May 18, 2015—Iwona Sadowska, who teaches in the Department of Slavic Languages, received this year’s Dorothy Brown Award for Excellence in Teaching. Sadowska teaches Polish and Russian language, literature, and film studies. She is also the director of the Polish Studies Program.

The Dorothy Brown Award is presented annually to an outstanding faculty member whose contributions demonstrate a strong commitment to the educational advancement of students. The recipient is announced during Georgetown Day, the annual university-wide celebration of the campus community.

“The Dorothy Brown Award means a lot to me, as students give this award. The connection my students and I have is very important to me,” Sadowska said. “I find our discussions, exchange of ideas and what we learn from each other very rewarding.”
