Exclusive for students in the College of Arts & Sciences, the First Fellows Program provides students with a cohort-based community, academic guidance, faculty mentors, connections to career pathways, and financial support for summer internships and employment opportunities.
Facilitating Connections
For all students, navigating the hurdles of higher education is a daunting task. For those who are among the first in their families to attend college, the experience can feel lonely and overwhelming at times. Recognizing this, the First Fellows Program amplifies belonging and community among students through a cohort-based model, which brings student fellows together from diverse backgrounds to forge lifelong connections and friendships. The First Fellows Programs aims to build a sense of belonging on the Hilltop through special academic programming, specialized advising, weekly drop-in office hours, and support for summer opportunities.
The First Fellows Program is designed to augment and compliment existing programs at Georgetown. We are proud to collaborate with the Community Scholars Program (CSP), Georgetown Scholars Program (GSP), Center for Multicultural Equity and Access (CMEA), Office of Student Equity and Inclusion (OSEI), the Red House and the Cawley Career Center on events and activities.
Navigating the numerous offices, organizations, and departments available to students on the Hilltop and beyond can feel like a Herculean task. The First Fellows Program provides students with additional assistance in locating resources and finding solutions to the many problems that can arise for college students. A dedicated First Fellows Program Director will serve as a liaison, facilitating interactions between First Fellows and various university offices and resources.
We invite you to be a part of this ambitious effort to foster community and belonging among our first-generation college students in the College of Arts & Sciences. Thank you for your consideration as we strive to become the university we are called to be.
