Juniors and seniors, welcome to Act II, the second half of your degree. You have declared a major, completed most of your core requirements, and figured out how to navigate the campus (both literally and figuratively). If the first and second years of study have gone wide, it’s now time to go deep.
Over the next two years, there will be continued discovery of the range of your academic interests; you may add or drop a minor or major. The choices are rich, varied, and may lead to complicated interactions in your program. As you explore your many options, you are encouraged to speak with your dean.
More than half of you will study abroad; juniors will be planning for and engaging in foreign study, while seniors are experiencing re-entry pangs and squaring away their credits. Whether you’re in Cambridge, Quito, or Cairo, we hope you’ll remember that we’re only a quick email or phone call away.
Seniors, we’ll be in frequent contact this year as you prepare for graduation and your final year in the College. You’ll also be planning for life beyond Healy Gates, and whether your plans include work or volunteer experiences, medical school, law school, or graduate school, we hope that you will take advantage of the many advisory and support services Georgetown offers.
